WHAT IS INTERNAL FAMILY SYSTEMS?

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a holistic therapeutic modality that views each person’s mind being made up of different parts with jobs that differ but all have the goal of helping us to survive and maintain a type of balance. All of our parts work hard to help us survive and keep us safe. When there is a traumatic event our parts will adopt beliefs or burdens and other parts will adopt extreme protective roles and maintain them long after the danger has passed so we do not feel the pain we did when we were originally hurt. These extreme parts can look like shaming critics, addicts, dissociative parts, caretakers, perfectionists, overachievers, parts that believe we are worthless, stupid , unlovable the and list goes on. These parts are young and frozen in the past. When they are triggered we become that age and are blended with their reality. None of these parts are sick they simply are stuck in a form of Groundhog Day.

IFS is a way of helping those wounded parts heal and relieve their burdens by introducing them to our Self energy. It is the energy that is in all of us and is the source of healing and renewal. It is not a part but rather the essence of Life that we all carry. It has the ability to be compassionate, calm, curious, creative, connected, clear, courageous, and confident with all our parts fostering a space for healing. It is a presence that has perspective, patience, persistence and is playful. Our parts have Self Energy in them and the goal is to form a trusting relationship that allows us to speak and act for our parts so we can lead a full and intentional life.

Using the tools of Internal Family Systems, Sound Therapy, Energetic and Creative and Expressive Arts we together to help you form a relationship with your parts that  to establish meaningful goals by finding the roadblocks, burdens, and fears parts hold an help you to develop the tools and skills to turn inward to heal.

REIKI

Reiki is universally guided life energy and Reiki Healing is a holistic modality that is used to stimulate the healing and relaxation response in our systems. A Reiki practitioner connects to the Reiki energy and the client’s system allowing the flow of energy and the Reiki works with the inner wisdom of the client’s system to go where it is needed to clear blocks. The practitioner holds space and acts as a calm, compassionate, connection to the reiki energy as the client’s system self-corrects. . Reiki is not a religious practice, it works only for the highest good of the client and the practitioner is not forcing a belief system on the client. Alisa uses Reiki as a way to help access Self-Energy.

Sound Therapy

Sound Therapy is the intentional production of sound for a healing effect. Therapeutic sounds are produced from instruments, music, sound healing tools,  and the human voice. The intention of using any of these individually or separately is to bring an individual’s system back into harmony with their natural vibration. 

Sound is a tool to help create spaciousness inside, feel and sense our Self energy, allow parts an opportunity to relax (we call this unblending), and for us to feel the safety of presence. 

Sound is a great meditative tool, and it induces the Alpha-theta brain state which is connected to meditation, helps release pain, connect to non-verbal parts of us, and release energy that we no longer want to hold.
